Good Thursday Morning, Everyone…
Today we sit out ahead of a system that will bring us some pretty radical change for the weekend. For now, that means mostly sunny conditions will daytime highs rising into the upper 70’s and low 80’s. NW breezes at 5-15 mph will get very gusty this evening. Skies will become partly cloudy tonight. Lows will dip into the 40’s and breezes will turn light out of the west.
Friday will also be a pleasant day, but watch for some rapid change later in the day. That developing system moving in from the Gulf of Alaska will rush rain and wind into Central Oregon Friday night. Cold air imbedded in this system will drop our highs into the 50’s Saturday.
A WORD OF CAUTION TO WEEKEND CAMPERS: freezing levels in the cascades will be dropping to 4,000 to 5,000 feet by Saturday night. That means this system will be more than capable of dropping snow on upper elevation campsites. If you are heading into the mountains, be prepared for winter-like conditions. Drivers: this also means the possibility of seeing snow at the pass levels.
Showers on the High Desert are expected to break up Sunday night. Sunshine and warmer temps will return as we head into next week.
