S. Oregon man arrested after wife found dead in trailer fire
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a 52-year-old man has been arrested after the body of his estranged wife was found in a burning trailer north of Medford.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that Kevin Dean Hicks Sr. was booked into jail, accused of murder and abuse of a corpse and held without bail. The office says the death has been ruled a homicide.
Firefighters responded Saturday to a burning trailer in the community of Sams Valley. The caller reported that a woman was inside.
The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office tentatively identified the victim as 49-year-old Tammy Raye Hicks. Positive identification will require dental records and DNA. An autopsy is scheduled this week.
The sheriff’s office says the couple separated after Kevin Hicks was arrested in 2017 and accused of assaulting his wife.
