Corvallis man cited after crash with DCSO pickup
(Correction: Patrol vehicle was pickup truck)
A Corvallis man was cited for turning into the path of a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office patrol pickup at Highway 97 and China Hat Road, causing a collision that sent a deputy to the hospital, Bend police said.
Bend officers responded around 4:15 p.m. Monday to the reported crash at the intersection, Lt. Clint Burleigh said.
An investigation determined that Zachary Dupree was heading north on Highway 97, driving a Nissan Titan pickup, and was attempting a right turn to head east on China Hat Road.
But Burleigh said Dupree recognized the location of the intersection late and was unable to safely navigate the turn. His pickup collided with the front of the pickup driven by Deputy Laura Conard.
Conard was taken to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries, Burleigh said.
Dupree was found to be at fault in the crash and was cited for making an improper right turn.
