Bend driver pulled over, arrested on drug charges

A Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team investigation over the past several weeks led to a traffic stop Thursday and the arrest of a 33-year-old Bend man on cocaine and child neglect charges and seizure of cocaine and prescription drugs, officers said. His two young children were in the car with him, prompting a call to the state Department of Human Services Child Welfare agency.

The CODE Team began an investigation in June into cocaine distribution in Bend and the source of supply was identified as Edgar Arturo Robles-Anaya, leaving in the 2100 block of Northeast Holliday Avenue, Lt. Nick Parker said.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, CODE detectives conducting surveillance saw Robles-Anaya leaving his home and requested help from Bend police, Parker said. A Bend officer pulled over the 2015 Toyota Camry he was driving on Holliday Avenue near Purcell Boulevard and he was arrested without incident.

Robles-Anaya possessed “a commercial quantity” (over 10 grams) of cocaine and user amounts of fentanyl and Adderall on his person at the time of the arrest, Parker said.

Investigators later searched Robles-Anaya’s home and said they found user amounts of fentanyl and Adderall, digital scales and packaging material. Parker added that Robles did not have a prescription for the drugs.

The illegal drugs were found in locations where Robles-Anaya’s children, ages 6 and 3, had access, Parker said. . State DHS Child Welfare was called in to assist with the children’s safety.

Robles-Anaya was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on cocaine possession, delivery and manufacture charges and first-degree child neglect. His bail totaled $65,000.

Parker said Robles-Anaya was not initially charged with the crimes involving illegal possession of fentanyl and Adderall. He said investigators will work with the district attorney’s office on any additional charges.
