Coalition launches employment website

KTVZ

Employment First Central Oregon announces the launch of its new website; www.employmentfirstcentraloregon.org.

Made up of 11 local nonprofits and state agencies, Employment First Central Oregon helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) find competitive, meaningful work in businesses and companies throughout the region.

The coalition is also a strong, vocal advocate for creating an equitable, diverse workforce and ensuring that everyone who wants to work is able to do so.

According to Mia Shapiro, Program Manager at Full Access High Desert, the new website is one more tool that will help them do just that.

“Our new site is a wonderful place for people to get a wealth of information,” she said. “The job board shows who in the community is hiring and the specific skills that are required. The employer section shows business owners how they can benefit from hiring I/DD workers. And, everyone will be inspired by our video and success stories.”

Employment First Central Oregon is part of a statewide policy that was enacted in 2008 to help Oregon residents with I/DD find meaningful, fulfilling jobs that are fully integrated in their community. To date, the member agencies of Employment First Central Oregon have enriched the community by helping hundreds of local residents leverage their talents and find their true purpose.
