KTVZ

Neighborhoods throughout all 50 states, US territories and military bases worldwide, joined together with over 38 million neighbors across approximately 16,000 communities on Tuesday, August 7 th to celebrate crime awareness and prevention through National Night Out.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign, held on the first Tuesday in August, which promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Together, we are making that happen.

Housing Works hosted National Night Out events for all of its properties in Redmond, Madras and Bend this year, with attendance being the highest since it began participating five years ago. In attendance with the residents were partners who help make these communities thriving places to live.

Representatives from Early Learning and Wellness, OSU Extensions, NeighborImpact, MountainStar Relief Nursery, Bend Parks and Rec, Mosaic Medical and local fire and police departments gathered in the neighborhoods and provided fun activities and information to residents. Attendees enjoyed food, music, bouncy houses and water games during the hot August night.

National Night Out is nationally sponsored by NATW , Dietz and Watson, Ring, Associa , Package Guard and co-sponsored locally by Housing Works, EPIC Property Management, Sherwin Williams of Redmond and PJ Long Flooring.

Housing Works Executive Director David Brandt said, “Housing Works is excited to sponsor this event at our properties and stand together with America to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our communities throughout Central Oregon.”
