Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM
Happy Thursday evening, everyone!
AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE REGION THROUGH 8 P.M. TONIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN WELL ABOVE AVERAGE AND WE WILL NOT BE SEEING MUCH RELIEF FROM THE HEAT OVERNIGHT.
A FIRE WEATHER OR RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF CENTRAL OREGON FOR DRY CONDITIONS AND BREEZY WINDS AT TIMES. ANY FIRE THAT SHOULD START WOULD SPREAD RAPIDLY.
Tonight will be a warm one with temperatures still in the upper 80s and lower 90s around sunset. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s, which is more than 10 degrees above average for many locations. Smoky skies are expected with mostly clear skies overhead.
Tomorrow will be off to a hazy, mild start. We’ll quickly warm into the mid to upper 90s, so a few degrees cooler than today, but still very warm! Winds will pick up in the afternoon gusting 25 miles per hour. Smoke is expected to be at its worse tomorrow afternoon. Poor air quality levels will be likely when that smokes arrives.
Dry conditions are ahead for Central Oregon with no real chances for rain or any moisture in sight. We’re seeing EXTREME fire danger levels.
A new system will push into the region by the second half of the day Friday. We’ll see cooler air move in for the weekend. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s and lower 80s by Saturday, which takes us below average. Mostly sunny skies blanket our extended forecast.
Temperatures bounce right back to average by Sunday and we’ll be in the mid to upper 80s. Next week will see highs in the low to mid 90s.
One more hot & smoky day to get through before some relief this weekend! Stay cool & stay safe!
