Walden praises defense bill signed by Trump
Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., released the following statement Monday following President Trump’s signing of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act:
“This bill gives those who wear our nation’s uniform the tools they need to safely carry out their missions and protect the homeland, and supports them with their highest pay raise in almost a decade. With historic funding for better training, new equipment, and upgraded facilities, our troops will have adequate resources to combat the 21 st Century threats facing America.
“For too long, the United States has faced a gap in military readiness that left our country and our allies less safe. This legislation helps fill that gap and ensures America’s armed forces remain capable defenders of freedom and liberty around the world.
“The men and women who serve our country deserve to know that we have their backs when they put themselves in harm’s way, and I was proud to support this legislation to do just that,” Walden concluded.
