Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

A FIRE WEATHER OR RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH 5 A.M. FRIDAY FOR WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING LIGHTNING. ANY FIRES THAT SHOULD START WOULD SPREAD RAPIDLY.

AN AIR QUALITY ALERT IS IN EFFECT FOR THE REGION THROUGH AT LEAST TOMORROW AFTERNOON FOR POOR AIR QUALITY LEVELS.

Tonight we’re looking at scattered thunderstorms to continue through at least sunset. After that time through tomorrow morning we have a very slight chance for a few nocturnal thunderstorms. We’re seeing some rain with the storms which is good, but we could do without the lightning! Apart from the chance for storms expect partly cloudy skies to become mostly clear. Air quality levels will be poor. Overnight lows will be a little above average in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Friday will see a calmer day than what we’ve seen today. Highs will be right around average in the mid to upper 80s. Right now it looks like the smoke will be at its worst in the late morning and early afternoon. Winds will be breezy at time gusting 25 miles per hour.

Moisture moves east over the next few days and the system will likely take most smoke out of the area, but we’ll still be left with hazy skies. The weekend will see sunny skies with some haze. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Overnight lows will be above average in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
