Bend lowering Brosterhous Road speed limit

KTVZ

Following community input and engineering analysis, the city of Bend said Friday that speed limits will be lowered this month on a stretch of Brosterhous Road in southeast Bend.

The announcement said the change applies to the following road section:

· Brosterhous Road between Third Street and American Lane – from 40 mph to 35 mph

The new speed limit signs will have orange warning flags on top for a few weeks to call attention to the change.

The speed change was initiated by citizen requests in response to redevelopment and changing conditions along the street, the city said.

The Oregon Department of Transportation conducted the traffic study that looked at existing driving speeds, road characteristics, crashes, access locations and more to set the new speed limit in accordance with the state law.

The lowered speed limit is one of several around the Bend area in recent months.

One of the most common traffic complaints the city gets is concern about speeding drivers. Please pay attention to your speed and drive safely. Most city road speed limits are 25 mph to 35 mph.
