Death investigation underway at SW Bend home

A death investigation possibly involving a fatal shooting was underway Monday evening at a home in southwest Bend, and another person apparently was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, initial reports indicated.

Police Lt. Clint Burleigh said a death investigation was under way at a home in the 20000 block of Mt. Hope Lane, located north of Badger Road, between Brookswood Boulevard and Blakely Road.

Burleigh would not comment on the nature of the death or whether there was more than one victim, but only would add that there was no known threat to the public. But unconfirmed police scanner reports indicated the incident involved a shooting.

Police and fire medics rushed to the home after the call came in at 5:46 p.m., according to police.

NewsChannel 21 Chief Photographer Steve Kaufmann said an ambulance left the home with lights and siren operating while he was on the scene.
