Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

AN AIR QUALITY WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE TRI-COUNTY AREA THROUGH FRIDAY AT NOON. AIR QUALITY LEVELS WILL BE POOR DURING THIS TIME.

A cold front is making its way through Oregon right now and temperatures are much cooler west of the Cascades. Winds will be breezy at times gusting up to 30 miles per hour out of the northwest. We’ll see some clouds overnight tonight as the new system arrives. Temperatures will be chilly tomorrow morning starting in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Friday will be much cooler as daytime highs don’t make it out of the 70s. Our average daytime high is 84 degrees in Redmond. Many locations will be in the low to mid 70s. Winds will still be a little breezy at times gusting 20 miles per hour.

Most of the smoke will back off Friday as the cold front brings us clearer skies; however, we’ll still see some haze and patchy smoke through the weekend.

Overnight Friday into Saturday will be the coldest night we’ll see as lows will be in the low to mid 30s. Cover up any outdoor plants you’re concerned about as temperatures could fall below the freezing mark in areas like La Pine and Sunriver.

Variable clouds are ahead for the weekend with below average temperatures. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. We’ll see mostly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday. Air quality levels should be better than what we’re seeing right now, but we’ll still be left with patchy smoke.
