Senior facility offers free fall-reduction evaluations

KTVZ

Do you worry about falling, or are you concerned about a loved one experiencing a fall? While falls are a leading cause of injuries for seniors age 65 and older, there are steps you can take to prevent serious harm. To help assess your risk of falling and to share preventive educational information, Prestige Senior Living High Desert is offering free fall-reduction evaluations now through September 30.

These complimentary evaluations, led by trained and certified Prestige Wellness Coaches, will guide participants through a series of movements and exercises to assess strength, flexibility and balance, which all tend to decrease as we age. To help reduce participants’ risk, Prestige representatives will offer recommendations based on the results and will share best practices for staying safe at home and avoiding falls.

Prestige Senior Living High Desert is also offering free exercise classes specifically designed to reduce the risk of falling in older adults. During each session, Wellness Coaches lead a group of participants through an exercise routine that is proven to lessen the likelihood of falls and help prevent related injuries. The community is invited to attend their first five classes at no cost, and those who are interested in attending additional classes can enjoy reduced prices through the end of September.

As a partner in active aging, Prestige is dedicated to offering programs and resources to help older adults enjoy active, healthy lifestyles. To schedule your free fall-reduction evaluation at Prestige Senior Living High Desert or sign-up for one of our exercise classes, please call (541) 223-9169.
