Motorcyclist killed in crash near Antelope

(Update: OSP confirms he was wearing helmet; other agencies that responded)

A Lake Oswego man was killed Sunday afternoon in the crash of his motorcycle near the Wasco County town of Antelope, Oregon State Police said Monday.

OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded shortly after 1 p.m. to the reported crash on state Highway 218 near milepost 11, OSP Captain Tim Fox said.

An investigation found that two motorcyclists were traveling together, heading north on the highway when Gabriel Spaccarelli, 44, apparently became distracted and his motorcycle left the highway, crashing on an adjacent field, Fox said.

Spaccarelli sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, the captain said. He later added that Spaccarelli was wearing a helmet.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Fossil Fire Department and ODOT, Antelope Fire Department, Wheeler County Sheriff’s office and LifeFlight
