Bend, Redmond road closures, delays: Week of Sept. 17

Here are the cities of Bend and Redmond road closures and delays report for the week of Sept. 17:

BEND:

Special Events

· Festival of Cars, September 15 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Idaho Avenue between Wall Street and Bond Street, road closure.

· Oktoberfest, September 21 from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. and September 22 from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m., the following streets will be closed:

o Oregon Avenue between Bond Street and Lava Road

o Irving Avenue between Oregon Avenue and Harriman Street

For the week of September 17 – 23

· Metolius Drive closed at intersection with Mt. Washington Drive for gas valve replacement work, detour, no access to Metolius Drive from Mt. Washington Drive during construction hours, 9/17/18 – 9/21/18, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

· Third Street between Scott Street and Woodland Boulevard for gas line installation, lane shifts with flaggers, 9/17/18 – 9/18/18, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

· Butler Market Road between Eighth Street and Brinson Boulevard for aerial utility installation, southwest-bound lane closures with flagging and detours, 9/17/18 – 9/21/18, night work from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Ongoing Closures:

· 14th Street between Albany Avenue and Galveston Avenue, full road closure with detours for work on Phase 2 of the 14th Street Reconstruction project. For project and detour info: www.bendoregon.gov/14thstreet.

· Empire Avenue between 18th Street and Purcell Boulevard, closed for road reconstruction, widening, and sidewalk construction, full road closure with detour, 9/11/18 – 12/1/18.

o In anticipation of high traffic volumes, modifications were made at the intersection of Brinson and 18th Street prior to the closure of Empire Avenue on September 11th. This intersection will continue to be monitored to determine if further changes are required. More info: www.bendoregon.gov/empire

· O.B. Riley Road between Mathers Drive and Cooley Road for infrastructure installation, road closure with detour, 7/31/18 – 9/28/18.

Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors.

REDMOND:

City Street Maintenance Operations & ADA Street Improvement Projects:

Monday, September 17 NW 7th St. between NW Quince & NW Redwood Ave. closed for repairs paving

NE Larch Ave @ the intersection of NE 9th St. closure in place and repairs completed same day, starting at 7:00 a.m.

Monday, September 17 thru September 21 – Starting at 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the trench repairs and paving will cause intermittent traffic disruptions and closures on the following streets:

NW Teakwood Ln.

NW 8th St.

NW Greenwood Ave. & NW 19th Pl.

SW Obsidian Ln

SW Cascade Mtn. Ln. & SW 26th St.

SW 35th St. & SW Obsidian

SW Quartz Ave. & SW 36th St.

Special Event Closures:

None

Ongoing Closures:

South Canal Improvement Project – South Canal Blvd is closed between Veterans Way and Quartz Ave. and then from Timber Ave. and the Yew Ave. roundabout for the next few weeks. Local access is permitted.

Scheduled Activities for the week of 9/17/2018 – 9/21/2018:

South Section (Roundabout to SW Timber Ave)

Final paving of this section is scheduled September 17-19 with final pavement markings scheduled for September 20-21. Expect delays during this time. Flaggers will be on the road controlling traffic due to paving and striping operations. North Section ( SW Canal Blvd from SW Salmon Ave. – SW Obsidian Ave and 11th Street )

SW Canal Blvd will remain closed at SW Salmon Ave. Thru traffic is not allowed north of SW Salmon Ave. Local residents and businesses will have access. Please use detours or an alternate route. SW Canal Blvd from SW Veterans Way to Quartz will remain closed to allow for drywell installation and intersection construction at SW Obsidian Ave and SW Canal Blvd. SW Obsidian Ave will remain closed from SW Canal Blvd to SW 12th St. Local access will be permitted from the west on SW Obsidian Ave via SW 15th St. No access will be permitted onto SW Obsidian Ave from South Canal Blvd. Crews are 90% complete with installing the new 18-inch water line. Water services will be installed September 17-21. Pressure testing of the water line will occur September 17-21. The new water line will be tied into the existing water line starting September 25th. Construction of Homestead Multi Use Path will continue. A portion of the path from Veterans Way to Highland Ave will be paved the week of September 16. The improvement project completion date is set for April 2019. Sections of South Canal Blvd. will be closed temporarily during construction, but local access to area homes and businesses will remain open.
