Family Access Network receives $5,000 grant

The Family Access Network has received $5,000 to support FAN advocate services as well as rental assistance for families within Deschutes County. These funds were made possible by First Story’s Community Giving Grant Program and made on behalf of Hayden Homes.

The funds will help with the important work FAN advocates do every day in our schools to ensure children have warm place to sleep each night and come to school ready to learn each day.

“We value our local partnerships and are thankful to First Story for providing funds to assist our local families. As the housing market tightens, we are pleased to have partners like First Story looking for solutions for our local families struggling to make ends meet,” said Julie Lyche, FAN executive director.

First Story was founded in 1998 in Redmond with the goal to change lives. That simple aspiration has grown to a public non-profit that promotes giving and inspires communities through the creation of home ownership opportunities and financial support.

Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 25 advocates in 52 public schools (K-12) and early childhood sites in Deschutes and Crook Counties. The direct placement of FAN advocates within the public schools allows FAN to effectively reach disadvantaged children and families and connect them to essential basic needs.

over 9,000 people in our community.
