Friends of the Children-Central Oregon recently hosted their second annual fundraiser, called “Friend Raiser,” which raised $130,000. All proceeds will go to serving children living in Central Oregon.

Friends – Central Oregon is a new non-profit that is part of the national Friends of the Children network. Their mission is to provide the most vulnerable children a nurturing and sustained relationship with a salaried, professional mentor, called a Friend, who teaches positive values and has attainable expectations for each child to become healthy, productive members of the community.

Friends–Central Oregon employs salaried, professional mentors (called Friends), whose full-time jobs are to ensure the educational success, social development, and well-being of each child through a relationship-based model.

Through this relationship, Friends–Central Oregon works collaboratively with children and families to build on the child’s strengths and skills and to remove barriers to their success. Friends work with children from kindergarten through graduation–12 ½ years, no matter what.

Friends–Central Oregon hosted more than 150 guests who enjoyed some delicious local bite, beverages, silent and live auction items generously donated by numerous individuals, restaurants and other businesses around Central Oregon.
