Sex offender gets prison for preying on teen boy

KTVZ

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A convicted Oregon sex abuser was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison after he was caught living in a sex offender halfway house with a teen who had been reported missing from Vancouver in February 2017.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports 36-year-old Brendon Robert Louis Doyle was sentenced Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Doyle met the 14-year-old boy through an online gaming app and started communicating by text messages and Skype.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Natalie Wight says investigators found the boy in Doyle’s room in Beaverton two weeks after he was reported missing.

Doyle, who has prior convictions for sodomy and sexual abuse and had to start registering as a sex offender at age 13, was 25 at the time.

Doyle pleaded guilty to one count of transporting a minor across state lines to engage in criminal sexual activity.
