A fire heavily damaged the garage and exterior of a northwest Prineville home early Sunday morning, but the residents were unhurt, officials said.

Crook County Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched around 12:35 a.m. to the structure fire in the 300 block of Northwest Eighth Street, officials said. They arrived to find the home’s exterior burning and the fire spreading quickly.

Two engines and a medic unit responded to the fire, quickly knocking it down. But there was significant damage to the exterior of the home and garage.

No injuries were reported, officials said, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Disaster responders with the American Red Cross were called in to help the family of two adults, two children and two pets.

The Red Cross provided resources to help address immediate basic needs of those affected such as temporary housing, food, clothing and comfort kits including toiletry items, along with information about recovery services, health and mental health care as needed.
