Local Alert Weather – Mon. PM

KTVZ

Happy Monday evening, everyone!

Tonight we’re looking at an AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY in place. We’ll see this in effect through Wednesday. High pressure is overhead which is keeping our skies clear and leaving us with some haze closer to the surface. Air quality levels will suffer during this time and outdoor burning is not recommended.

Areas in low-lying elevations or near bodies of water will likely see patchy freezing fog develop. Temperatures for most of Central Oregon will be in the teens and 20s. Winds will be calm and we’ll see mostly clear skies overhead.

Tuesday will be one of the last mostly sunny days we’ll see for a while. Highs will be in the upper 40s and 50s once we see the fog break up. Winds will be calm for Tuesday as well. Some clouds will push across the forecast area by the end of the day.

Overnight into Wednesday our clouds increase across Central Oregon and rain showers will shortly follow. We’ll see a rain/snow mix down to some pass levels on Wednesday. Central Oregon can expect rain showers by the afternoon. Highs will be cooler in the mid to upper 40s.

Mountain snow is on the way for Wednesday as snow levels drop into the 4,800′ range by Tuesday night. Snow will continue for the ski areas into the end of the week. We’re expecting one to one and a half feet of snow, and Mt. Bachelor has announced limited opening for this weekend.

The High Desert sees rain showers into Thanksgiving with mountain snow. Winds will kick up Thursday and gusts will be around 30 miles per hour, so it will be a perfect day to cozy up indoors. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, which is average.

Friday will also be a wet one with rain showers and cool temperatures. Highs will peak in the mid 40s. Winds will be breezy at times.

The weekend following Thanksgiving looks dry, but chilly. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s.
