Local Alert Weather – Wed. PM

KTVZ

Happy Wednesday evening, everyone!

Our Air Stagnation Advisory will expire tomorrow as a stronger front moves inland. Tonight we’re seeing air quality between ‘good’ and ‘moderate’ across Central Oregon. We’re seeing increasing clouds tonight and rain showers. Snow levels will be around 5,600′ tonight falling to 4,800′ tomorrow morning.

Winds have picked up and will be breezy overnight tonight gusting 15 to 20 miles per hour. Rain showers will stick around through about midnight before we get a break in the shower activity. We’ll see mostly cloudy skies with scattered, light showers through the overnight. Temperatures will cool into the 20s and 30s for overnight lows.

Across the Cascade passes we’re seeing rain as of tonight, but will see that change to a rain/snow mix overnight. Know if you are traveling roads would be slick. By tomorrow afternoon we’ll see snow on the passes, which will accumulate and stick around through Friday mostly likely.

For Thanksgiving we begin on a dry note with actually some sunshine poking through! The sun will be short lived as showers will pick up by the late morning and early afternoon. Snow levels fall to 4,300′ by the end of the day, so we will see some snow mixed in through higher elevations for our Thanksgiving. Highs will top in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Winds will be quite gusty for Thursday and Friday topping 40 miles per hour. Strong winds and heavy mountain snow for Thursday and Friday will result in low visibility at times if you are driving.

Overnight into Friday we’ll be left with scattered showers for Central Oregon. Temperatures will be right around the freezing mark, so the roads will likely be slick or icy.

Early Friday morning will see the next strong wave of showers arrive with again snow for the higher elevations. The passes will see snow by this time, so if you’re heading over the mountains be prepared. Friday will see likely some mixed showers in others areas for the morning before changing to rain for the afternoon. Winds will still bve gusty.

This weekend we look to get a break from showers, but will still be left with the chilly air. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with partly sunny skies.
