Springfield police seek person of interest in homicide
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – Police are searching for a person of interest after a 58-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound in a west Springfield home.
Springfield police Sgt. David Lewis says officers are looking for 52-year-old Anthony Delaunay following the death of Tyler Burtts Friday afternoon.
The Register-Guard reports that Delaunay, who police described as transient, had been periodically staying at the home where Burtts lived. Police did not provide a motive for the shooting.
In July, Burtts was arrested for unlawful possession and delivery of methamphetamine. He was set to go to trial Dec. 5 on those charges before he was killed.
Lewis says there were at least four other people in the home at the time of the shooting.
