Bend man facing 40 child pornography charges
A 22-year-old Bend man was arraigned Thursday on 40 child pornography counts, accused of uploading numerous images to the internet, police said.
The federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force informed Bend police in October that a suspect had been uploading images of child pornography, Lt. Clint Burleigh said.
Detectives following up on the tip learned the images were uploaded from a residence in the 61000 block of Ferguson Road, Burleigh said.
They served a search warrant at the home Wednesday and arrested Johnathon Allen Walior, Burleigh said.
Detectives spent several hours searching for evidence during the raid and found several hundred images “that are clearly child pornography,” Burleigh said in a news release, adding, “The images are extremely explicit in nature.”
Walior was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and booked on 20 first-degree counts of encouraging child sexual abuse.
Court records show he was arraigned Thursday on the district attorney’s initial charging document, which listed 40 counts of first- and second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse for incidents between April 1 and April 30 of this year.
Walior was being held on $200,000 bail pending a scheduled return to court next Thursday for arraignment on an expected formal indictment, jail and court records showed.
Burleigh said the investigation is continuing.
