Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

A warm front today gave us mild daytime highs in the low to mid 50s. We should be topping out at 40 degrees for this time of year. Winds are gusty with the exiting warm front and incoming cold front. Tonight expect winds to be out of the southeast around 25 miles per hour. We’ll see partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies tonight. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 30s, which is also around 10 degrees above average.

Tomorrow will see some breaks in the clouds in the morning ahead of the cold front. Winds will already by gusty topping 35 to 40 miles per hour throughout the day. Temperatures will still be mild in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

The cold front brings showers which will hit the Cascades first in the form of snow bringing about 2″ of snow to Mt. Bachelor by Saturday morning. Snow levels will be around 5,000′ Friday morning falling to 3,400′ by the evening.

A chance for scattered rain showers picks up for Central Oregon by the afternoon. Higher elevations will see some snow mixed in — especially once we get into the evening. Know if we see the snow showers this will create slick conditions. Minimal accumulations are expected.

Saturday will be the drier of the two weekend days. Mostly cloudy to overcast skies are on the way. Highs will be a little cooler than Friday’s and we’ll top out in the low to mid 40s.

Sunday will see rain showers beginning in the morning. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
