Local Alert Weather – Saturday

KTVZ

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Saturday starts on a dry, blustery note. We’ll see partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions while the sun is up. After sunset is when our chance for mixed showers develops. Highs for Saturday will reach the mid to upper 40s. Mt. Bachelor and the ski areas won’t see new snow until Sunday morning.

Winds will pick up gusting 40 miles per hour in Central Oregon overnight into Sunday. We don’t have a watch nor warning in place, but know our winds will be very strong at times. Storm mode conditions are expected in the mountains as snow makes a return. Snow levels for Saturday evening will be around 4,000′ before falling to 2,600′ Sunday morning.

Mt. Bachelor will see about 6″ by Sunday morning with much more snow accumulating during the day. Winter driving conditions will be present across the mountain passes Sunday and through higher elevations. Central Oregon will wake up to some snow on the ground Sunday morning, although accumulations will be minimal.

Sunday sees highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s, so we’re returning to average. Sunday will also see off and on snow showers as snow levels will be between 2,600′ to 2,400′. Expect slippery and/or icy conditions on the roads.

Overnight into Monday low temperatures will fall below the freezing mark. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 20s. Monday still has a chance for snow showers in the morning then turning over to rain as snow levels rise. Daytime highs will b ein the upper 30s and lower 40s to start the week.

Have a happy & safe first weekend of 2019!
