Local Alert Weather, Fri. AM, 2.1.19

KTVZ

Good Friday Morning, Everyone…
The advance of a wet winter system that will bring heavy rain to the coast and valley, and snow to the Cascades, will steadily increase our chance of showers today on the High Desert. Highs will be in the mid 40’s and southerly breezes will tend to get a little gusty this afternoon. Lows will get down around freezing tonight, so it is likely that we will see mixed showers by morning. Breezes will be gentle out of the south.
While this system will make mountain driving treacherous all weekend, it will mean good news for Mt. Bachelor and other resorts. Mt. Bachelor is expected to receive 4-8″ of wind driven snow over the next 24 hours and a total of nearly two feet of fresh snow by the time this storm breaks up late Monday.
As our temperatures drop with the advance of this system watch rain showers turn to snow Saturday night and into Sunday. We will go into next week looking for temperatures to drop to the low 30’s for daytime highs and upper teens for overnight lows. This chilly blast will stay with us through the middle of next week, along with a variable cloud cover and diminished chance of showers.
