Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

A WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect for Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties for snow accumulating on the roads and surfaces as soon as Friday afternoon. The shower chances will continue into Sunday. By the end of the weekend many locations will see around 3″ of snow with amounts in the Cascades totaling a foot to two feet.

Overnight we’ll see a slight chance for some snow flurries specifically in the early morning hours of Friday. Mostly cloudy to overcast skies will be in store apart from that chance for snow. Lows will be in the teens and 20s, so much warmer than we were this morning! Winds will be calm.

Friday begins with already cloudy skies and a chance for showers kicking up. Daytime highs will be in the low to mid 30s with low snow levels, so look to see precipitation in the form of snow with wet snow in the afternoon.

Heading into the weekend we will see more snow push into Central Oregon. Saturday morning will wake up to snow on the ground with about 6″ at Mt. Bachelor. Expect a snowy start Saturday with snow accumulating on the roads. Highs for Saturday will be in the low to mid 30s. Winds will pick up slightly after having been calm for the past several days.

Cold air arrives for the end of the weekend as Sunday is looking at daytime highs in the low to mid 20s. Snow showers will be lighter on Sunday, but we’ll be left with a few flurries.

Prepare for winter driving conditions to return to Central Oregon and the mountain passes over the next several days!
