Local Alert Weather – Wed. PM

KTVZ

Happy Wednesday evening, everyone!

Overnight we’ll see some snow showers before this round of activity wraps up. Mostly cloudy skies will be overhead apart from the chance for showers. We’ll wake up to some snow on the ground in most areas, so be aware that the roads could be slick and icy. Lows will be in the mid to upper teens and even single digits for some in outlying areas. Winds will be breezy at times out of the north around 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Tomorrow we wake up to some snow on the ground, but will be mainly dry. Mostly cloudy skies are ahead for the day. Higher elevations and peaks could see a few snow flurries. Highs on Thursday will be the coldest of this week peaking in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Winds will also be breezy gusting 15 miles per hour.

Friday will also be a chilly, dry day. Highs will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s, which is still about 10 degrees below average. We’ll see more cloud cover Friday ahead of snow arriving for the weekend. If you are traveling Friday you’ll be ahead of the snow showers in the mountain passes, but driving back will see winter return to the roads.

Saturday sees snow showers which will likely total around an inch. Going through the end of the weekend and beginning of next week we will see more impressive totals around Central Oregon equaling about 5-7″. We’ll be closely monitoring this system this weekend.

Highs for the weekend will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s. Cold air will stick around through much of next week as well. Our average daytime high is 48 degrees.
