RDM’s spring break advice: Arrive even earlier
The Redmond Municipal Airport said Wednesday it expects increased travel during the 2019 spring break season and recommends passengers plan for longer wait times at the TSA security checkpoint and limited availability in RDM’s paid parking lot.
“We encourage travelers to plan ahead and prepare for the possibility that the 1,150-space passenger parking lot may reach capacity during Spring Break. If possible, seek alternative transportation options such as taxis, shuttles, ride-sharing or get a ride from friends and family,” stated Zachary Bass, airport director.
He said passengers should make efforts to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to departure. Be aware some airline ticket counters close 40 minutes prior to departure and passengers will not be permitted to board a flight within 15 minutes prior to departure.
Use the Airport website at http://www.flyrdm.com/?Airport-Parking-Lot-Cams to “know before you go.” The site includes parking lot web-cams and banner alerts with parking availability that is updated every 30 minutes.
Paid parking rates at RDM:
· $1.00 for the first 30 minutes
· $2.00 per hour (for time beyond 30 minutes)
· A maximum daily rate of $15.00
The curb lane in front of the terminal is for active loading and unloading only. Vehicles are not permitted to wait at the curb. Violations are subject to a $50 citation. The approved waiting area is the Cell Phone Waiting area, located across the street from the Airport along SW Salmon Avenue.
Boarding lounge amenities include a children’s play area, a free book exchange, gift shop, coffee shop, a family friendly restaurant and a full-service bar. The family friendly restaurant and bar is located (post security) on the second floor and opens daily at 5:00 A.M.
