SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – A driver was killed and two police officers were injured in a shooting in Springfield Sunday night.

The Register-Guard reports that the deceased person has not yet been identified following the shooting around 9 p.m.

Police say two officers have been treated at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Their names have not been released.

Police say the officers were involved in a short vehicle pursuit before the fatal shooting of the driver in the city 110 miles south of Portland.

The newspaper reports the area was closed to traffic Sunday night and police tape remained in place Monday morning.

Police say the Lane County Interagency Deadly Force Investigation team will oversee the investigation.
