Man fatally shot by Springfield police identified

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – The man fatally shot by Springfield police Sunday after a short vehicle pursuit has been identified.

The Register-Guard reports 33-year-old Stacy William Kenny was shot by at least one Springfield police officer Sunday night.

The names of the officers involved have not yet been released.

Two officers were injured during the incident. They were treated at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center and released.

The Lane County Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team is investigating the shooting.

When reached by phone Tuesday, a member of Kenny’s family declined to comment.

Police say the officers were involved in a short vehicle pursuit before the shooting in the city 110 miles south of Portland. No further information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting has been released.
