Tips sought in La Pine sports pub safe burglary

KTVZ

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies have released four security camera images in hopes of finding two masked suspects who broke into the Wickiup Station Sports Pub in La Pine early Monday morning and made off with a small safe.

Deputies responded around 5:45 a.m. to the business on Highway 97 and were joined by detectives at the scene throughout the morning, investigating and collecting evidence, Sgt. William Bailey said.

The suspects defeated the alarm system for the business, Bailey said. An employee called in the burglary after arriving at work.

Video surveillance showed at least two suspects arriving and forcing entry at a door just after 4 a.m., removing a safe and fleeing, Bailey said.

Bailey said it was a “smaller safe,” but details on how it was removed aren’t being released as the investigation continues.

One suspect was wearing all black and the second all black, except for white stripes on the sleeves of the jacket. Both appear to be male, the sergeant added.

The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to call dispatchers at 541-693-6911 and speak with a deputy.

Bailey said deputies also are asking anyone with video surveillance in the area of the pub and Drafter Road to review their recordings for any people or vehicles captured between 3 and 5 a.m.
