Memorial Friday for Retired Redmond Police Capt. Donald Swift

On April 4, Retired Redmond Police Captain Donald Richard Swift passed away at the age of 73 after a long battle with illness at St. Charles Bend.

“Donald Swift made an impact on so many lives in his 50 years of service in law enforcement.,” Sgt. William Bailey said.

Swift was a retired lieutenant from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after 28 years of service. Upon his family’s move to Bend, he developed, implemented and ran the Central Oregon Law Enforcement Reserve Academy in Redmond for 20 years.

Swift was a Captain in the Redmond Police Reserve Officer Program and retired from service in 2018.

A memorial for Swift is planned for Friday at 5 p.m. at the Christian Life Center, 21720 East Highway 20 in Bend.

The Swift family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ret. Captain Donald Swift be made to the Central Oregon Public Safety Chaplaincy (COPC).
