U.S. Forest Service sells Sisters parcel for $1.5 million
(Update: Comment from USFS spokeswoman; sale proceeds to build new ranger station)
One of three U.S. Forest Service parcels up for sale in Sisters has been sold for $1.5 million for future industrial use, Compass Commercial Real Estate Services announced Monday.
The 18.1-acre property is located at U.S. Highway 20 and West Barclay Drive.
Compass Commercial said brokers Robert Raimondi, CCIM and Graham Dent represented the Forest Service and principal broker Bruce Churchill represented the buyer, Three Sisters Holdings, LLC in the transaction.
The property is one of three parcels of the Forest Service’s approximately 80-acre administrative site. The two remaining parcels consist of 14.61 and 47.06 acres, and are still up for sale.
The Forest Service plans to use the proceeds from the land sales sales to build more accessible and energy-efficient facilities.
“This sale moves us forward toward our goal of providing better services for visitors and improving employee safety while reducing our operating costs,” Deschutes National Forest Supervisor John Allen said.
Forest Public Affairs Officer Jean Nelson-Dean said, “We want to build a new ranger station, to both improve the efficiency of our operations and to provide better visitor facilities for the public.”
“Currently at our site, we would have to do a lot of rebuilding of the facilities that we have,” she said. “And so we looked at selling those administrative sites, those three administrative parcels and moving into a new facility.”
The buyer is affiliated with Kevin Spencer of Empire Construction and Development, and they plan to offer 2.5-acre industrial lots.
They said they “look forward to working with the city of Sisters and Economic Development for Central Oregon on this important parcel of land.” Parties interested in the lots can contact Churchill with Compass Commercial.
