Mt. Bachelor to bring ‘ninja’ obstacle course to Old Mill

Mt. Bachelor, a POWDR company, announced Wednesday new adventure experiences coming to Bend this summer, including the debut of the Woodward WreckTangle obstacle course in the Old Mill District, a new advanced downhill mountain biking trail, an expanded number of available dates for elevated sunset dinners on-mountain and longer summer hours to enjoy all that Mt. Bachelor has to offer.

“We’re excited to introduce more options for summertime fun, both at the mountain and now also in the heart of Bend,” says John McLeod, Mt. Bachelor’s president and general manager, said in a news release. “Our mission is to deliver memorable experiences that bring people together. Between WreckTangle in the Old Mill District, rafting with Sun Country Tours and all we’re offering at the mountain, Mt. Bachelor is creating more opportunities for people to do things they love with the ones they love.”

The WreckTangle is Woodward’s proprietary ninja obstacle challenge course, built to be fun and achievable for kids and adults. It’s named after its rectangular shape that encompasses 10 thrilling obstacles and is engineered to ignite spatial awareness, athleticism, agility, and amusement, based on Woodward’s foundation in gymnastic and action sports.

Woodward is an experiential action sports company also owned by POWDR.

Using the WreckTangle app, participants can compete with friends near and far, share videos of their run, and track their individual athlete progression as they strive to be the world’s fastest WreckTangle finisher.

Summer at Mt. Bachelor

This summer’s adventures on Mt. Bachelor, including scenic chairlift rides, lift-served downhill mountain biking, and mountainside dining, will begin on Saturday, June 15.

Bike riders and sightseers will benefit from expanded operating hours this summer, as the resort will open its chairlifts an hour earlier – at 10:00 a.m. – each day. Closing time will be 5:00 p.m., with extended twilight hours until 7:00 p.m. (biking) and 8:00 p.m. (sightseeing) on Thursdays through Sundays in July and August.

Construction of the “Redline” trail – a new, advanced flow downhill mountain biking trail – will resume once the snow melts, with completion expected by early August.

“With smooth, flowing turns along its gravity-fueled path, Redline is the kind of trail that riders have been asking us to build,” says Tom Lomax, Mt. Bachelor’s director of mountain operations. “It will be a very fun trail for experienced downhill bikers.”

Also new this summer, Mt. Bachelor’s popular Sunset Dinners at the mid-mountain Pine Marten Lodge will expand to four nights a week, offered Thursdays through Sundays in July and August, and will feature an enhanced choice of upscale entree options. 2019 Bike Park Season Passes

Season passes for Mt. Bachelor’s 2019 biking season, extending into October if conditions allow, are now on sale at www.mtbachelor.com . The deadline to buy at the lowest price is June 30; prices go up July 1.

All Mountain Bike Park Passes offers unlimited summer and fall riding for $189 (ages 13 & older) or $119 (ages 12 & under). The Sunshine Bike Park Pass, ideal for those seeking gentler descents, is $49 (all ages).
