Services set for Bob Maxwell, Medal of Honor recipient
Services have been announced for Robert Dale Maxwell of Bend, who was America’s oldest living Medal of Honor recipient when he died on Saturday at the age of 98.
Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home also shared a message “from Bob’s family”:
“With saddened hearts, we would like to announce the passing of our Dear Father Robert Dale Maxwell. As many have already heard, he passed away peacefully this last Saturday evening, May 11, 2019 with family members at his side in Bend, Oregon.”
“Our Father was a very spiritual man and knew it was his time to go home to his Heavenly Father. Dad was such a kind, caring, man full of integrity, and love for all. He loved his God, his Country, his Family and Friends. We are very saddened and he will be missed terribly, but at the same time we are grateful that he is out of pain and is where he wanted to be, in Heaven.”

A vigil time for viewing and paying respects will be held Thursday, May 30, from 1-6 p.m. at the Niswonger-Reynolds Chapel, at 105 NW Irving Avenue in Bend.
The Remembrance with Honors will be held Friday, May 31, at noon in the Deschutes County Fairgrounds Main Expo Building 3800 SW Airport Way in Redmond. Interment with full military honors will follow at Terrebonne Cemetery.
