Woman jailed after shot fired in DRW domestic dispute
A Bend-area woman was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly firing a gunshot next to her boyfriend’s head at a home in Deschutes River Woods, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Around 9:10 a.m., deputies received a domestic dispute call involving a firearm at a residence on Shoshone Road, Sgt. Troy Gotchy said.
A man called 911 to report his girlfriend, Gina Bendsneyder, 54, was armed with a handgun and had fired a round next to his head, Gotchy said. The man said she had left and was sitting in her GMC Yukon outside the home.
A few minutes later, the first deputy arrived and made high-risk (gun drawn) contact with Bendsneyder. Gotchy said she was compliant and was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun was found in the SUV and secured.
There were no injuries, Gotchy said, adding that drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors.
Bendsneyder was taken to the county jail and booked on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another and recklessly endangering another. Her bail totaled $20,000.
