Oregon, 20 other states in court to defend ACA

A coalition of 21 sate attorneys general, including Oregon’s Ellen Rosenblum, is arguing the appeal of a recent decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas declaring that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) unconstitutional.

Henry Kantor, special Counsel to Rosenblum, is attending the oral arguments Tuesday in New Orleans on behalf of Oregon.

Here’s a statement from Rosenblum on Tuesday’s argument in the U.S. Court of Appeals in New Orleans defending the ACA:

“It is undeniable that this law has helped thousands of Oregonians. Oregon’s uninsured rate dropped from 14.5% in 2013, to 6.2% today. And, approximately 500,000 Oregonians received health insurance in Oregon between 2013 and 2017 because of the Affordable Care Act. There are simply too many Oregonians who would be in health care “limbo” if the ACA is repealed. We will not go back to the time when it was nearly impossible for Oregonians to get, or keep, health insurance. I am proud that Oregon is a part of this coalition, and we will continue to fight in court to keep the ACA from being dismantled.”
