Bend Parkway cleared of jackknifed truck

(Update: Jackknifed truck, not overturned; road cleared)

A rear-end crash that caused a truck to jackknife shortly before noon Friday on the northbound Bend Parkway made for a major lunch-hour traffic clog on area roads, including Third and Division streets, officials said.

The apparently non-injury crash occurred near milepost 135, north of the Empire Avenue exit, ODOT said.

” Motorists should avoid travel in the area until congestion clears, ” ODOT said in an advisory about an hour later.

ODOT spokesman Peter Murphy said the reported rear-end crash initially affected only one northbound lane, but both lanes had to be closed to get the truck removed.

The lanes were reopened and things were clearing up in the early afternoon.
