Woman loses necklace with her fiancé’s cremains while shopping for Halloween costume

Crystal River (WFTS) — When Holly Smith went to the Goodwill in Crystal River, Citrus County, to look for a cheap Halloween costume. She never imagined she would leave without a “piece of her soul.”
Smith said a lock of hair and cremains of her fiancé David Bowden were on a necklace she accidentally left hanging on a hook in the Goodwill dressing room.
“He was the most loving and caring person I ever met,” Smith said. “Having a part of him with me every single day has helped me to try and heal and it’s been 2.5 years and I’m still devastated. I went back there yesterday and I went up and down every single aisle I checked everywhere the floors you know I checked everywhere.”
Smith said the necklace was lost on Tuesday between 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. After trying on the outfits, she didn’t realize until about 30 minutes later that the necklace wasn’t around her neck.
“I’m hoping they realize they are not worth anything but they mean everything to me,” Smith said. “If I never get them back, I’m so devastated right now. People don’t know when they take things how much they mean to other people.”
Smith said she just wants the necklace back, no questions asked. She said her fiancé’s death was so sudden, the pain of her loss is still unbearable. She hopes whoever has the necklace knows it has no monetary value.
“They were memories. It was the only piece of him from my soulmate and the person I love more than anything in the world,” Smith said.
Smith said she went back to the Goodwill to ask the manager for help but was told no one returned any missing items.
