104th Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo wraps up five days of summer fun
(Update: Comments from fair director, kids)
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- After five days of funnel cakes and conquering your fear of heights, the 104th Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo was wrapping up its final day Sunday.
"As of now, we're trending right about where we were last year, maybe slightly ahead of last year's attendance number," Fair and Expo Director Geoff Hinds said Sunday. "We're really honored that the community continues to come out and support the fair and rodeo."
Last year's attendance was around 170,000 throughout the five days. This year, the fair had about 300 vendors, with about 40 different carnival rides.
After a while, all the rides start to blur together for . I asked young Bend resident Stella Post, "What is your favorite part of the fair so far?"
"Maybe the first ride I went on," she replied."
So I asked her what ride that was?
"I forgot," she replied.
But for some kids, it's easy to pinpoint their favorites. Prineville resident Brock Fisher said, "My favorite ride was that one. The roller coaster."
Rides with a fear factor are a must for some, choosing to brave the ones that make you scream. Bend resident Cora Sanders said he was looking forward to the big, fast and scary rides.
Looking for a ride that makes you dizzy is a no-brainer for Cameron and Len, finding rides like the Fire Ball and the Pineapple Express high on their list.
Len Smyth said, "I like it 'cause it goes in like a circle. So it kind of makes you a little dizzy with it, too."
If you missed this year's fair and rodeo, you can start buying tickets next year some time in May.
