Man arrested in Denver-area shooting and taken to hospital along with female victim, police say

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — Police say they arrested a man in a shooting at an apartment building in the Denver suburb of Broomfield and taken him and a female victim to a hospital. A police spokesperson says officers negotiated with the suspect for 3 1/2 hours on Thursday before using force to enter an apartment at the Arista Flats complex where he was holding a woman hostage. A police spokeswoman says an officer fired his weapon inside the apartment, but she didn’t say if anyone was shot. Neighbors reported hearing up to 50 gunshots coming from the complex. Authorities haven’t released the name of the suspect. The conditions of the suspect and victim also weren’t disclosed.
