Police investigating homicide near Washington State campus, one confirmed dead
PULLMAN, Wash. (KHQ) – The Pullman Police Department has confirmed that the victim of a Thursday morning shooting has died. Authorities have reclassified the incident, which took place near the 800 block of NE California Street, as a homicide.
The shooting occurred early on Thursday, December 26, when officers responded to reports of a medical emergency around 3:00 a.m. The area is home to many Washington State University students, including those living near nearby Greek fraternities.
Upon arrival, police found the victim unresponsive at the scene and transported him to the hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.
The Pullman Police Department is actively investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made as of yet. Authorities have indicated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public.
The Whitman County Coroner's Office is working to confirm the identity of the 28-year-old male victim, and will release his name after notifying next of kin.
