JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Today, a 41-year-old southern Oregon man is sitting in a Cambodian jail cell awaiting extradition back to Josephine County on the felony sex crime of sodomy. The 41-year-old has been on the run since 2019.
In 2019, Josephine County Sheriff Deputies issued an arrest warrant for a 41-year-old southern Oregon man accused of sodomy. Since then, the 41-year-old has been on the run from the law, evading capture for nearly five years - until now.
After learning the 41-year-old had likely fled to Cambodia several years ago, an analyst with the sheriff's office began trying to track him down. This month they were able to pinpoint his exact location in Cambodia.
The information was relayed to the United States Marshall Service who used its international apprehension team to have the 41-year-old arrested on December 17th.
The 41-year-old is currently sitting in a Cambodian jail as he awaits extradition back to the United States, and eventually Josephine County where he will likely face the prosecution of a felony sex crime.
The sheriffs office has charged him with Sodomy in the first degree, which is a Class A felony.
The 41-year-old has not been officially charged by the Josephine County District Attorney's Office. NewsChannel 21's policy is to not name suspects unless they have been charged by the District Attorney.
