University of Oregon and United Academics reach tentative agreement, averting strike
EUGENE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- In a late-night negotiation between the University of Oregon and its faculty union, United Academics, a tentative agreement has been struck, averting a potential strike.
United Academics, which includes over 1,800 university faculty, career instructors, researchers and librarians, was prepared to strike over key issues of receiving adequate salary.
The deadline, set for Monday, would have initiated a strike if an agreement was not reached in time. The date coincides with the beginning of Spring Term at the University of Oregon, where nearly 25,000 students are expected to begin spring classes.
The tentative agreement put forth provides an immediate 4.5% raise to faculty, career instructors, and researchers, with an additional 2.5% increase for all members in September 2025. Additionally, the tentative agreement sets future wage increases for 2026 and 2027.
At this time, the agreement is being sent to union members to vote on. If ratified, the contract will apply to all union members until the next bargaining session in 2027.
The full tentative agreement and its changes are available to view on the University of Oregon website.
