Ridgeview softball erases 6-run deficit, walks off Caldera to stay perfect at 11-0
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) — League play is officially underway for Central Oregon baseball and softball teams, and Ridgeview softball wasted no time delivering an early-season thriller.
The top-ranked Ravens entered Tuesday's home game against Caldera riding a perfect 10-0 start, but it looked like that streak might come to a screeching halt after falling behind by six runs late in the game. Instead, Ridgeview showed exactly why they're the team to beat in the IMC, storming all the way back for a walk-off win to improve to 11-0 and 2-0 in league play.
After a tight game early, the Wolfpack erupted in the middle innings, capitalizing on key opportunities to build a 9-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
But the Ravens weren’t done.
Behind strong performances at the plate and a relentless team energy, Ridgeview soared back into the game, scoring five runs in the sixth and tying the game in the seventh. The Ravens finished the comeback when Kasidy Osborn walked it off.
Leading the charge in the circle was Brezlyn Hagemeister, who recorded 18 strikeouts. Despite Caldera’s nine runs, only two were earned, as Hagemeister battled through adversity to keep Ridgeview within striking distance.
After the game, Ridgeview players and coaches reflected on the team’s resiliency and belief in each other.
“We are not a perfect team by any stretch,” head coach Sandy Fischer said. “We have a lot of character and a lot of kids that really want to win. We’ve got some things to clean up, but I’m proud of them today.”
Players echoed the sentiment, emphasizing team chemistry and a never-quit mindset.
“We all have so much talent, and anyone can come through at any time,” Hagemeister said. “Even being down six, we knew we weren’t out of it.”
Osborn added, “It’s just a lot of fun. We have great team bonding, and if we keep sticking together, we believe we can go really far this season."
With the win, Ridgeview keeps its perfect record intact and continues to make a strong case as a title contender.
