BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) Two Warm Springs men were arrested early Sunday after a knife fight in downtown Bend left two Redmond men injured, police said.

Officers responded around 12:12 a.m. to a report of a knife assault near the intersection of Northwest Wall Street and Northwest Greenwood Avenue, according to the Bend Police Department.

When officers arrived, two suspects ran away from the scene. One was caught near Northwest Bond Street and Northwest Oregon Avenue, police said. The suspect, identified as Delmer Jonathan Whitefoot, 24, was taken into custody. As he was being placed in a patrol vehicle, the second suspect, Lyndreth Lee LeClaire, 27, ran again but was arrested a short distance away.

Officers recovered two knives at the scene and found a third on Monday, police said.

Whitefoot and LeClaire were booked into the Deschutes County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. LeClaire also faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl.

An investigation determined the suspects had approached a group of people and got into an altercation. Police said LeClaire slashed two men, ages 30 and 23, both of Redmond, during the dispute. Both victims were cut on the hand.

The 30-year-old man was treated at the scene and taken to St. Charles Bend with minor injuries. The 23-year-old was treated at the scene and released, police said.

The case remains under investigation.
