Owens Corning shutting down Prineville plant; all 184 workers to be laid-off starting in late August

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Owens Corning is closing its Prineville manufacturing facility in Central Oregon, marking a significant reduction in its local operations. All 184 employees at the facility will be laid off starting in late August.

A WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice filed with the state on indicates that layoffs will begin on August 25. Some employees may remain on site through the end of November to assist with the facility’s wind-down process.

The Prineville plant on Main Street is one of three locations the company operates in Oregon, with the other two situated in Portland and Gresham.

The closure is expected to impact the local workforce, as workers at the Prineville plant are being informed about the impending job losses.

After reaching out to the company, they provided this statement to KTVZ News:

"Owens Corning has made the strategic business decision to close our Doors components facility in Prineville, Oregon. This decision was not taken lightly, and leadership’s priority is supporting the team in Prineville through this transition."
