Bend Police Department Seeks Community Members for Advisory Council

(Update: Adding video)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Bend Police Department is now accepting applications for the Police Chief’s Advisory Council (PCAC), which aims to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the local community.

Re-established in 2022, the council consists of up to 20 community members who reflect the diverse perspectives of Bend’s growing population. Members are selected based on their integrity, commitment to the community, and ability to communicate effectively within their networks.

The PCAC’s main goals are:

  • Advising the Chief of Police on community-related issues
  • Acting as a communication bridge between the community and the Police Department
  • Building and maintaining trust between law enforcement and residents

New members will serve two-year terms, with the possibility of reappointment at the Chief's discretion. Meetings will take place monthly, typically lasting 90 minutes to two hours. Regular attendance is expected, along with participation in the Police Department’s Community Academy and at least one ride-along with an officer.

Interested residents must submit their applications by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 18. For more information or to apply, visit the Bend Police Department’s website.
