BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Bend Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered 72-year-old woman who was last seen Saturday morning in southwest Bend.

Officers responded around 2:56 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, to a report of a missing person in the area of Goldenwood Loop. Police learned that Dorothy Van Wey left her home earlier that day in her vehicle, a gray Subaru Outback with a double kayak rack on top. The vehicle’s Oregon license plate number is 511 GKG.

Van Wey was last seen around 11:30 a.m., and her vehicle was later captured on camera in Sunriver at approximately 2:20 p.m. Officers searched several locations where her family believed she might go, but were unable to find her.

Van Wey suffers from memory issues and is known to become disoriented easily, police said.

She is described as a white woman, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 118 pounds. She has short white hair and blue-gray eyes. Van Wey was last seen wearing a white blouse and pants of an unknown color.

Bend Police are coordinating with other law enforcement agencies in the region in an effort to locate her.

Photos of Van Wey and her vehicle were released by police and can be seen above.

Anyone who sees Dorothy Van Wey or her vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately or contact non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911.
